KUALA LUMPUR, March 6 (Bernama) — Each year over 200,000 candidates simultaneously sit for the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry International Qualifications (LCCI IQ) Group Certificate and Diploma examinations, at a global network of over 5,000 training centres spread over more than 100 countries.

LCCI IQ Group Certificates and Group Diplomas are a combination of examinations in related fields that create a comprehensive demonstration of ability, skills and knowledge in a specific subject area.

They equip students with a firm academic foundation to face the rigours of higher education, apart from allowing learners to apply their theoretical knowledge in the practical environment in a dynamic way.

Widely recognised and trusted for their standards of excellence, an LCCI IQ is accredited and recognised by an increasing number of governments, higher education institutions and employers across the world.

In addition, many international professional bodies recognise these qualifications for entry into their courses.

LCCI IQs are awarded by the Education Development International Plc (EDI), which is a pioneer in online assessment as well as an internationally recognised awarding body based in the United Kingdom.

IMPRESSIVE TRACK RECORD

Established in 1992 with the collaboration of the Federal Territory Islamic Affairs Council (MAIWP) and the Federal Territory Foundation (YWP); the Baitulmal Professional Institute (IPB) is an alternative avenue for Muslim students who have obtained a minimum of 2 credits in the SPM examination, to pursue the LCCI professional course.

Apart from conducting business and accounting courses in affiliation with MARA University of Technology (UiTM), students have a choice of sitting for either the LCCI Group Diploma in Accounting or Diploma in Business Studies.

“IPB is an institution that focuses on business studies. Our mission is to produce as many Muslim sub-professionals as possible”, IPB Chairman, Tan Sri Dato’ Haji Hanafiah Haji Ahmad told Bernama recently.

“We take pride in not only providing average Muslim students with education opportunities, but also in ensuring that they gain employment when they graduate from the institute.

“Thus far, IPB students have no problems securing employment in banks, insurance companies and hotels in and around Kuala Lumpur”, Hanafiah declared.

The ‘lifeline’ offered by the institute have been reciprocated by the students with an impressive track record in the LCCI IQ examinations. Over the past 5 years, the Achievement Awards that have been conferred on IPB students, at both local and international levels includes:

GOOD IMPRESSION

Going by comments gleaned from representatives of EDI Plc and LCCI Asia, who were interviewed during their Centre Visit conducted at IPB recently, these achievements have left a good impression on the officials involved.

“Performance aside, I am greatly impressed by how well-behaved and committed the students here are”, EDI Plc Chief Executive Officer, Nigel Snook told Bernama.

“The excellent facilities and very supportive teaching and administrative staff at IPB have obviously contributed in creating the right environment and attitude towards excellence”, he commented.

LCCI Asia Chief Operating Officer, Mark Disney was also suitably impressed.

“IPB’s consistent success in securing the Achievement Awards is testimony not only to the determination and commitment of its students but also the professionalism of the staff.

“These achievements have transformed IPB into one of the fastest LCCI growth centres in the region”, Disney lauded.

LCCI Asia, which had just recently relocated its office in Singapore to Menara Yayasan Selangor in Petaling Jaya, is the headquarters for all LCCI operations in Asia.

EXCELLENT FACILITIES

IPB, which initially was located in Kampung Baru, moved to its own premise situated at Jalan Perkasa, in Kampung Pandan, Kuala Lumpur in 1996.

The IPB complex comprises an 11-storey building which houses 2 fully-equipped lecture halls, a well-stocked library replete with digital interface, 3 language laboratories, 3 conference rooms and 2 studios, apart from four floors of classrooms.

Free Wi-Fi network is accessible throughout the IPB complex while separate hostel accommodations consisting of a 7-storey block for the boys and a 10-storey one for the girls, are provided in the annexe.

Separate cafeterias and launderettes are located on the hostels’ ground floor.

In addition to a small monthly allowance, IPB has established an annual allocation of RM8.5 million as scholarship fund for students from a needy background.

Over the course of its 17-year existence, the IPB, which is accredited by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA), has grown from strength to strength in its quest to produce young and progressive Muslim professionals of calibre.

“At IPB, we strongly believe that given the proper support and opportunity, those who come from a disadvantaged background will eventually be successful in their undertakings”, Hanafiah declared.

Undoubtedly, the Baitulmal Professional Institute is a glowing example of how, given the opportunity, support and suitably guided, those who were previously mediocre can be nurtured into outstanding performers.
